I want to be your intern. I will bake cookies daily and never be creepy.

Producer

August 31, 2009 | 11:40 PM by John from Texas, Lubbock, TX

Tom, I volunteer to be your producer. I am excellent with computers, both PC and Mac, and can run skype. I've called in with skype before with perfect results. I have my bachelors degree and am 1 credit away from my masters. If you have room for one person and two dogs, I will work as your producer for free. I would even put up a tent in the backyard. I would sleep on a raft in the pool. I will read books, manuals, pamphlets, whatever it takes to make the show work. I'll stay up 24/7. Something I learned a while back - a creative force needs productive energy. I'm not trying to be a random asshole here, I love your work, been a fan since around eleven years ago. I want to see this show work and if you won't employ my absolutely free services, I hope you find a talented producer who is more than a decent camera person. Your creativity deserves better. A truly crazy plea, but I'm concerned for the success of you and the channel.

Chasing Skype

August 31, 2009 | 11:28 PM by Terry, Victoria BC

Hey Tom... I have been watching and playing along for over 3 years now with the channel and have always thought that your obsession with chasing Skype , viewer calls etc. has caused nothing but misery for you. I am a computer tech and can tell you just from the tech side that it will never be what you think you want...too many variables in everyones computers connections etc. and not to mention that generally people are idiots....how many times have you asked to ask a question etc. only to be asked the same things over and over. It just doesn't work Tom. And watching you get frustrated and pissed is getting so old. Skype and communicating with the dumb asses that ruin the show is ruining everything . Yuu are chasing the wrong things. The regular callers you keep going to to try to save the idea is ruining it as well. BORING and annoying just cause their audio works doesn't make it better. Sorry to be typing this but If only you left this behind and just do the things that you can control and make work would end the misery. Then once in a while when you do skyoe or phone calls, whatever might be fun again.
Put an end to this madness Tom...beat the skyoe machine on air with a sledge hammer and declare experiment FAILED and move on. Your frustration is so palpable on the air for the last 2 years watching you chase the madness of interactivity with the audience.
I want you to continue what you are doing any way you choose I will tune in...I just wish you would realize what I am trying to say and maybe what you already know and try other new things. Even the guest seem to be tired and confused with trying to communicate with cutting out and crappy callers.
Dam Tom stop the madness and get back to the insanity....
Your friend Terry

cant watch live anymore

Pre Show Video .... :(

August 31, 2009 | 10:39 PM by JB, HOUSTON

Hi Tom show is awsome but just wanted you to know that the time right before the show starts could be alot more entertaining. All i see now is a very blurry imaage of people walking in front and out of the camera and it gets kinda boring waiting,,,, well not kinda but very very boring and the music in the background really sucks.. So please have some decent over head shot of everything thats going on in that room , you know like a birds eye view and this will keep tons of users in front of thier computer screen., becuase the way it is now its just makes you want to kinda click off and do something else.. ok just my 2 cents nothing serious , let me know holla !!!!

Still watching!

August 31, 2009 | 10:05 PM by Derek, Buffalo

I hear you. I've been considering moving to a more business-friendly state. It's crazy that simply moving from one place to another can give you an instant raise. CA is definitely a sinking ship.

One benefit of LA is the wealth of guests who are local. While you're there, you should try getting Emo Philips on the show. He hangs out at the iO West Theater sometimes, and he's a trip! Keep going! You can do it, as Rob Schneider would say.

You should come to London...

August 31, 2009 | 09:50 PM by Tanya, London, ON

...London, Ontario that is! You could come for supper every Wednesday night and enjoy regular games of UNO while listening to Saga on the ole turntable. You would regale us stories from your crazy days back in LA, oh the fun we would all have.

London!

August 31, 2009 | 09:04 PM by Maris, Ireland/Latvia

And also i think celebrity like you could open new opportunities in London, maybe you could shoot in some movies or something over there!
P.S. And your health care would be for free! :D

I'm with you buddy!

August 31, 2009 | 08:55 PM by Maris, Ireland/Latvia

Tom! If you move to London i could work for you, i am computer technician myself, i think i could help you out! By the way you wasted lot of money buying all those mac computers! I am not saying they are bad, but they are expensive!

COME HERE!

August 31, 2009 | 08:51 PM by Youssef, Lancaster, UK

Come to London man! Just for once ... tour the city, shoot some videos goofing around, and meet your dedicated fans. It should be fun!

Mindless ramblings and suggestions

August 31, 2009 | 08:05 PM by Josh, Austin, TX

I have to admit I'm confused about all the London talk. Didn't know you were seriously considering moving. Moving costs alot, is very stressful and takes time, especially moving across the "pond" hehe. Seems to me it would cost more money in the end or alot anyways, having to rebuild the channel and get settled in. Without that car you'll have extra $$ like a mofo hehe. Also alot of the cool guests, celebs or otherwise can get to The Channel much easier in LA, some live there some can fly/ drive there with ease. I know it was mentioned in the Russel episode but a way for all of us TG fans to communicate and talk about things like how to keep the Webovision alive would help. Whether it's a forum or otherwise.

Just surprised to hear this London talk is all. Especially now that the channel is running the smoothest ever and I'm enjoying it the most I ever have in the last 3+ years! I love your attitude, humor and energy on all the shows lately. So many things are great, the skype machine, Drawing Episodes..etc..and Mr. Shneider is an awesome addition, I love how positive he is and all his add in comments and opinions.

You have the best guests ever and you are way better than any of those other talk show hosts, that usually need a whole crew of writers to be entertaining. You have balls (pun intended) do weird things and to have obscure/popular guests noone else has and they get to talk for more than 5 freaking minutes. I've never watched a commercial free show where an HOUR goes by like a MINUTE. You almost need the show to be 2+ hours, I'd say if you mixed in stuff from over the years as well as new things. Karaoke, music, stand up, monologues, show footage you've made earlier in the day and talk about it or something and maybe "get off your ass" more during the show like someone below suggested hehehehe

I love how during the Kat Von D episode you guys put up videos of stuff you were talking about.

Why not do a movie or make one with mr. shneider or something. You and him can write one or something. Also You and Andy Dick have great chemistry his House Arrest episode was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Obviously you can still do some sort of media like that. Maybe mini TG episodes and stuff similar to Owen Benjamin webisodes or Balloonshop's stuff on YOUTUBE.

Just my foolish suggestions but I'd say try not to rely too much on skype callers just in general, I love them all especially Cody though. Add some ZING and weirdness here and there. Me and others I know will do our Best to get the word around about THE CHANNEL. Please stick it out in LA , it will work out! Eventually a sponsor or something will come, they would be simply stupid to not jump on this.

Moving To London

August 31, 2009 | 08:03 PM by Andrew, Newcastle, UK

Hi Tom

Do whatever you think is best, but moving house takes forever, you can't really say with any certainty that the channel will run normally if you try to sell your current house and then buy one in London, can you???

Plus from all the positive things you've been saying this seems to be negative kind of move just from the words in your blog. I hope you can work it out, best of luck.

Andrew.

Standard & Premium Membership

August 31, 2009 | 08:01 PM by aaron, new zealand

Don't suppose you've considered offering a premium membership at $10 p/month with extra benefits to what is available now?

I, along with plenty of others I'm sure, would be happy to pay this regardless of what extra advantages are made available.

Hard part i suppose is figuring out and implementing the extra treats.

Best of luck Tom

youtube partnership

August 31, 2009 | 07:24 PM by mike, chilliwack bc

Tom I do not understand why you do not get into to the youtube partnership program

You keep on saying that you need to generate more revenue well this would be a very easy way to do that

youtube also now has channels that have live streaming video on there channel page maybe you could try to talk to them about that

check this out to see what I am talking about

Here is what you said a few years ago...

"See the thing that is awesome, is it is about breaking ground. It is about some kids that wanted to make rockets in a American town, back before they had rockets. But see the principal, and the kids father thinks making rockets is stupid. But the kid doesn't give a crap, keeps at it, and he builds rockets anyway. And the rockets are awesome."

- Tom Green, November 10th, 2005

Now, change rocket for webovision, principal and kid's father for mainstream, and you get:

"See the thing that is awesome, is it is about breaking ground. It is about some kids that wanted to make webovision in a American town, back before they had webovision. But see the mainstream thinks making webovision is stupid. But the kid doesn't give a crap, keeps at it, and he builds webovision anyway. And the webovision is awesome."

Don't give up everything. Webovision is awesome, in LA.

Keep striving!!!

Are you pulling a Dustin Diamond on us?

To the point.

August 31, 2009 | 06:31 PM by Craig, England

No point in moving ya have more pals in LA more choice of guests, and you just get sick of Laaadan. Look the webovison is Class it will get more fun and easyier to do also ya just sorted out the skype W.T.F man.

You should stick it out.

August 31, 2009 | 06:17 PM by Mike Veenhof, KW, Ontario

You have built an amazing studio in your living room in LA, you have the show up and running smoothly for the most part, now all you need is a revenue stream. Lots of people have posted great idea's that you should seriously consider. Start small, with smaller local companies or internet based business's.

Once you are established with that you can focus on building a larger viewer base and hopefully more people willl notice the show.

You are a great on the spot interviewer, just as good as any of the late night talk show people ived seen. But maybe mix it up a little bit.. expand your format, get out of that seat and off your ass and do something. Kat is trained in piano, you should have had her play something with you on drums or singing.

Anyways, once you have a good amount of viewers, celebs and agents will notice and you will get better guests. And with better guests comes better sponsers.

Baby steps Tom, London is not the answer. it will be like starting all over, and not in a good way.

i mentioned this before, but i have a diploma in film and TV production, and i would be cheap labour for you if you get this ball rolling.. im turn 27 oct 2nd, im currently unemployed and im looking for something to do with my life. i would love to work on a TV show.. and you will be on TV again.

someone else mentioned it.. gotta sell out a little bit, it is LA after all.

Concerning subscribers.. like i said, no job at the moment, but when i have the cash im gonna subscribe. You have me as a preferred caller (im honored) and im willing to do anything to make the show a blast.

i think a good idea tom, is to not just rely on your callers for questions, then cut them off. have some more interaction with them, like cody. integrate your skype callers into the show a little more and into the conversations with the guests. Sure you will have some bad apples... my question for Russel Peters was painful i know, but i think i was pretty good when Kat was on. Did my video really freeze?

anyways.. looking forward to Tonight. Norm MacDonald. Keep up the good work!

Channel moving

August 31, 2009 | 04:47 PM by Jonathan, London

Hey Tom,

I think moving to London could be great for the channel and your comedy, everyone pretty much knows you in US, but in the UK and Europe even tho many people do know you there are many that don't, which means you could do your comedy and get some awesome reactions :P anywhere in Europe.

Also a fresh new scene, new guests and what not would be a refreshing change, weather it will be cheaper enough that's a different story.

Either way keep this awesome channel rolling

London drove me CRAZY!

August 31, 2009 | 02:07 PM by Scott, Suffolk, UK

I'm an Englishman and I'm 100% bias towards anything British but London drove me crazy! 2 months I stayed, but everything is so fast and stressful there. Not to mention expensive, and thats from rural England to London; with the exchange rate from American it will be much more expensive I think. However on the plus side a loft apartment setting would be cool and it will make a lot of the British fans happy that The Channel's base is in London.

...just checking..............

August 31, 2009 | 01:38 PM by james, ireland...killarney

are you still enjoying this webovision tom?....i think you are a bit down at the moment. i hope not. What you are doing is ground breaking, i hope you keep smiling and your dogs are ok. maybe go outside a bit more....lol.

Hope you watch vid...might make you smile.

Stay!!!!!

Tom, stay, finish what you started, and don't quit (not now). Finish your rap album, perform concerts, finish your dream.
You've built an empire, and you've just started having some amazing guests again!
If anywhere Hollywood is the place for someone famous like you to make more money.

Finish your rap album, then travel, but try and keep your house, its dope! Don't get stressed out over money and make irrational decisions. Relax...

YOUTUBE! just post videos there!! free bandwidth as much as you can use!! they will also cut you a better deal for a larger percentage since you're a celebrity.you'll get a check for a couple grand every day. some people make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year being a you tube partner. if you posted all this content on there as well as here. you could pull in close to a million a year for doing nothing extra but also uploading content there. it just needs to be uploaded right. get with it Tom. stop talking about shutting down the channel. there are millions of websites making millions of dollars a piece. you have one of the best. STOP BITCHING AND GIVE PEREZ HILTONS SALES TEAM A CALL OR SOMETHING. THERE ARE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS TO BE MADE HERE, YOU'RE JUST GOING ABOUT IT ALL THE WRONG WAY! THERE IS NO NEED FOR STUPIDITY LIKE GOOGLE ADS, AND SUBSCRIPTION FEES. GET WITH SOME PEOPLE WHO DO THIS FOR A LIVING AND KNOW WHAT IS UP. LOVE YA TOM AND WANT THIS TO SUCCEED. IT'S NOT AS HARD AS YOUR MAKING IT. YOU DON'T NEED ALL THIS EXTRA BULLSHIT. LOOK INTO THE YOUTUBE PARTNER PROGRAM, YOU'LL MAKE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR EVERY VIDEO YOU UPLOAD..AND STOP COMPLAINING, IT WILL COVER ALL EXPENSES. THE DREAM IS HERE!!

Fire

August 31, 2009 | 11:11 AM by Imran, Newmarket, ON

Will you be filming the crazy volcanic fires you're seeing? That would make for some exciting webovision!

London, seriously?

August 31, 2009 | 10:41 AM by frank, England

So you are telling us about the high costs of running The Channel in LA...and you expect London to be cheaper? It's like the most expensive city in the world sir.

I understand. But I will be downsizing considerably. Plus, I need to be in a city with a strong media business. Either way, tell somebody to subscribe to The Channel or this ship is going down. That's just the way it is. Thanks Frank.
The UK wants Tom!

Just keep moving

August 31, 2009 | 10:10 AM by James, UK

Hi Tom,

Here's a heads up about what's happening to UK TV. Channel 4 is gonna to cancel their contract with Endemol the makers of Big Brother.
Channel 4 will show the last series next year, due to falling ratings .
Channel 4 will have to start comissioning new shows to fill the massive gaps they'll have in the schedule.
Channel 4 were always supposed to be about off the wall and alternative programming. They got very mainstream with Big Brother, and made piles of cash. The show now is just boring.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/aug/26/big-brother-dropped-channel-4

London is a great world city, of course its doesn't have forest fires and earth quakes.
It does rain alot and when it snows every thing
grinds to a halt. As a Canadian you could laugh at us brits as we flail around in the snow.

The author Bill Bryson made his career out of commenting on british.

Doggies can have "pet passports" in the UK now
so they can travel with you.

I hope you don't get too down about things, what you do is cool stuff. Its great that your bonkers!

London

August 31, 2009 | 10:08 AM by josh sheephead, houston,pa

I think London could have its ups and downs for you. im sure u could do some good street interviews and alot of ppl wont know who you are which would work out to your benifit with alot of funny stuff. it's up to you buddy and times are hard all around, for you and myself as well. im roughing it out though. im staying until the money starts flowing in. i know if i keep doing what im doing good things will come my way. do what you gotta do tom. make sure your living good and that you are happy. oh and thanks for letting my brother and i on the show on skype with russell peters. we were the guys with the sheep head thing josh sheepf*cker is the 1 by the hay lol thats me. it was so awesome that i got to get on a live show with my favorite actor\comedian your the best tom . best wishes and good luck with whatever happens. im a member already and when the money starts flowing in next month i should be able to buy a few shirts. theyve been on my wish list actually . welp cant wait to watch again cya there

London, England

August 31, 2009 | 10:03 AM by Simon Williams, England

Tom, I just read about the possible move to London. On the one hand it would be sad to see The Channel in its current form come to an end. Your living room has become an iconic place and LA is the perfect location for getting celebrity guests. On the other hand, as a proud Englishmen, I do like the thought of Tom Green living over here. The new home of Webovision!

London

August 31, 2009 | 09:37 AM by Andrew Thorley, runcorn, cheshire.

you should do what feels right buddy. you could always attempt a cross platform show with channel 4 or something (they've just axed big brother).

You should write out a programme proposal and send it off to talkback thames (Huge UK production company). They produce pretty wild comedy programmes. Heres they're web site;

http://www.talkbackthames.tv/

honestly man check them out, you'd be right up they're street.

Congratulations!

August 31, 2009 | 09:32 AM by Peter Coffin, Michigan

Also, HUGE congratulations on the YouTube partnership. I make more from that than I do from my real full-time job, so it can be a great venture and I know you'll kick it's ass.

Move to Detroit!

August 31, 2009 | 09:27 AM by Peter Coffin, Michigan

The new Hollywood! You'd have an easier time with our state with your movies, too - both creatively and tax-wise. We went from something like less than films made her in 2008 to nearly one hundred in 2009. THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS. Also, the place is seriously a beautiful state.

Cost of living is ridiculously low and believe me, any business that has a chance at success will be catered to.

We spawned Eminem and Jack White, for Christ's sake. We're an entertainment state!
